CLEVELAND, Ohio — Debi Jones, the chief nursing officer at EMH Regional Healthcare System, is the new president of the Ohio Organization of Nurse Executives, an organization that provides education and political representation for nurses via the Ohio Hospital Association.

Jones has served on the board of the nurse executive organization since 2007 and sits on the board of the Health Executives Association of Northeast Ohio. She’s also vice president for patient care at EMH.

The Ohio Organization of Nurse Executives describes itself as a “catalyst for innovative health care.” It was among the groups that supported House Bill 346, which passed last year and requires hospitals to create nurse staffing plans with the input of nursing-care committees. The organization is currently polling hospitals on how they’ve implemented the law.

The group is also monitoring the progress of House Bill 253, which would give advanced practice nurses the ability to prescribe additional controlled substances.
