MENTOR, Ohio — STERIS Corp. and Siemens Medical Solutions USA Inc. will put together their technologies to supply hybrid operating rooms to hospitals and surgery centers.
STERIS will provide LED surgical lights, visual and data controls, monitors and cameras from its HD 360 line (pdf), as well as operating room integration and equipment management products, to the cooperative effort announced today at the Society of Vascular Surgeons annual meeting in Denver, Colorado.
Siemens Medical, owned by Siemens of Germany, will provide advanced information and interventional technologies, such as image-guidance technologies.
Using Informed Awareness to Transform Care Coordination and Improve the Clinical and Patient Experience
This eBook, in collaboration with Care Logistics, details how hospitals and health systems can facilitate more effective decision-making by operationalizing elevated awareness.
Together, the companies will supply hybrid suites — operating rooms that combine minimally invasive and interventional surgical technologies with medical imaging and communications — to vascular, cardiovascular and neurosurgical markets, Steris said.
“Working together, we can help facilities meet growing procedural demands and provide the technology that will integrate capabilities for new interventional procedures, minimally invasive surgeries and open procedures, all in the same space,” said Bill O’Riordan, vice president and general manager of STERIS Surgical Solutions, in his company’s statement.
Steris has similar collaborations with Philips Healthcare and GE Healthcare, among other technology suppliers. These collaborations are helping STERIS add revenue — even during a recession — and participate in what experts call “disruptive technology” that is revolutionizing surgical care.
