LORAIN, Ohio — The Innovation Fund of the Lorain County Community College Foundation is making $375,000 in grants to six Northeast Ohio companies — two of them in biosciences.
- Akron Research Commercial Group, Akron, Ohio, will get $25,000. The research group is developing a new class of silver-based agents that fight bacteria in the lungs of cystic fibrosis patients.
- Synostics of Cleveland, Ohio, will get $100,000. Synostics is developing a diagnostics system for osteoarthritis that is based on biomarkers.
Twenty-four companies have received grants of $1.8 million from the Innovation Fund, which aims at getting technology companies off the ground.
