OnShift has released a new version of its web-based staff scheduling software for long-term care providers and nursing homes.

The new version includes enhancements to the software’s reporting and analytics capabilities, as well as a new feature called Staff Extend, according to a statement from the Cleveland-based company.

With Staff Extend providers can fill shifts by accessing and sharing employees from neighboring locations, such as a sister community or facility. OnShift automatically identifies qualified and available staff from neighboring locations, red flags conflicting schedule assignments and overtime risks, and communicates openings with potential replacements via text message, email and automated phone call, according to the company’s blog.

Last month, OnShift reported that it closed a $3 million series B round of funding. The company also recently was approved for a $512,000 loan from the state of Ohio.

The young company enjoyed solid growth last year, with revenue rising 400 percent over 2010. OnShift is aiming for a similar rate of growth this year, CEO Mark Woodka said earlier this year.
