Harland Medical Systems, which provides coating services to enhance medical device surfaces, is seeking almost $1 million, according to a regulatory filing.

The Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based company has already raised $256,639.

Founded in 2003, Harland Medical was a tenant at the University Enterprise Laboratories before graduating from the incubator. The company’s products include hydrophilic coatings that reduce friction and allow catheters and guidewires to navigate through complex anatomies. Harland also provides antimicrobial coatings designed to reduce hospital infections.

Harland Medical appears to have had three additional rounds of financing that date back to 2006 through which it raised roughly $4 million, according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

A call to Jonathan Anderson, listed as one of the officers and directors of the company, was not immediately returned.
