Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) said its software that patients use to assess their blood glucose control is now compatible with Mac operating systems, reports Diabetes Health.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the CareLink Personal 5.4 Therapy Management Software for Apple computers and it has been available since early April, according to the Medtronic Diabetes website. The web-based program developed by the Fridley, Minnesota-based medical devices company has the ability to analyze data from a user’s insulin pump, continuous glucose monitoring device and blood glucose meter to spot trends and patterns that meters and logbooks alone cannot show.

The software supports more than 35 blood glucose meters, including ones whose manufacturers currently do not offer Mac support. It’s currently able to be used on Mac OS 10.6 and 10.5 (Intel-based computers only).
