Lung disease diagnostics company superDimension lands $25M

superDimension Inc. has raised $24.8 million, according to a report in Israeli media. The startup based in Plymouth, Minnesota, with offices in Israel and Germany is developing GPS-like technology designed to detect early stages of lung cancer.

The startup based in Plymouth, Minnesota, with offices in Israel and Germany is developing GPS-like technology designed to detect early stages of lung cancer. Dubbed electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy, superDimension’s system allows doctors to probe the deepest regions of the lungs, guided by sensors and 3D mapping software.

CEO Dan Sullivan is a former top executive at Vascular Science and SciMed Life Systems. Boston Scientific Corp. (NYSE: BSX) acquired SciMed (now its cardiovascular business in Maple Grove) for $850 million in 1995.

superDimension has raised over $100 million from investors like pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, CIBC World Markets and OrbiMed Advisors, the world’s largest healthcare investment firm with more than $6 billion in assets.
