Viking to keep supplying equipment to Boston Scientific through 2012

Viking Systems Inc. extends its deal with Boston Scientific Corp. to continue supplying the medical device giant with equipment for its SpyGlass direct visualization system.

Viking Systems Inc. (OTC:VKNG) extended its supply contract with Boston Scientific Corp. (NYSE:BSX).

The Westborough, Mass.-based company provides the camera, light source and accessories designed specifically for Boston Scientific’s SpyGlass direct visualization system.

Boston Scientific‘s system is indicated for intraductal visualization during cholangioscopy ’ or the visual inspection of bile ducts ’ and is the first single-operator, intraductal system that allows for optical viewing and optically-guided biopsies, according to a press release.

Viking said the new agreement continues through May 2012.

It’s good news for Viking, which took out an equity line with Boston, Mass.-based investment fund Dutchess Opportunity Fund II LLP in January to cover the launch of its next generation 3DHD camera system.
