Laboratory equipment manufacturer Celartia Ltd. has received a six-year, 45 percent tax credit to create a new office in Ohio.

In return for the tax credit, which is valued at about $123,000, the Spanish company would create 19 jobs generating $1.4 million in annual payroll within three years of beginning operations in the state, according to a statement from the Ohio Department of Development.

Should it choose to open a new Ohio office, the company would locate in either Dublin or Hilliard. However, the company is also considering locations in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Iowa, according to ODOD. Celartia lists on its website a location in Powell, but calls to the office went unanswered.

If Celartia accepts the Ohio tax credits, it would agree to maintain operations in the state for nine years. Celartia would also make an investment in its new facility of at least $390,000 to go toward machinery, equipment and site improvements.

Valencia, Spain-based Celartia sells a line of equipment that helps researchers grow cells in labs, such as its incubation devices and accessories.

The tax credit would begin in January 2011 and end in December 2016.
