Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota opened a new cardiovascular center on its Minneapolis campus, an all-in-one facility that allows patients to remain on the same floor.
The addition is part of the hospital’s $300 million project to renovate its buildings in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
The center combines all cardiac services on one floor, including admissions, diagnostics, surgery and follow-up care services. A patient will stay in the same place admissions to discharge, a design meant to ensure continuity of patient care and minimize risk in moving patients from floor to floor post-surgery. The center also features a SOMATOM Definition Flash CT scanner, which limits radiation exposure to patients.
