MENTOR, Ohio — US Endoscopy has launched another product — a portable colon irrigation system called Velocity.

The company that designs and makes endoscopy devices — used mostly in the gastrointestinal tract — wanted to help physicians when they found offal or fluid in a patient’s colon during a procedure, or if the patient bled. So the company created an irrigation system that had high volume, yet variable pressure that was controlled by the physician.

“When compared to traditional methods, the Velocity system offers unrivaled irrigation capabilities,” Gulam Khan, US Endoscopy CEO and co-chairman, said in his company’s release. “This system allows us to support clinicians’ focus on performing quality colonoscopies. The Velocity system’s powerful irrigation provides a potential solution to the frequent challenge of poor colon preparations.”
