CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland, meet St. Vincent Charity Medical Center.

The medical center formerly known as St. Vincent Charity Hospital has changed its name and brand, now that it is fully owned (again) by the Sisters of Charity Health System, a change that occurred on Dec. 31, 2009. University Hospitals of Cleveland had shared 50 percent ownership of St. Vincent under a joint-venture agreement struck in 1999.

“St. Vincent Charity Medical Center is not just one place. It is a hospital in the Campus District with off-site facilities across Greater Cleveland, including locations in Solon, Brecksville, Church Square, Brookpark, Independence and the former St. Luke’s,” said Sister Judith Ann Karam, president and CEO of the Sisters of Charity Health System and St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, in a written statement.

“This modest change to our name also reflects the teaching role of the hospital, which includes training physicians, dentists, podiatrists and many other health care professionals for our community,” Karam said.

St. Vincent started its rebranding campaign in June 2009 when the marketing department and creative partner, Twist Creative, brought together caregivers from across departments to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the institution. With the help of patient and employee satisfaction surveys, and market research, the team developed a new brand for St. Vincent: Care you can believe in.

As part of its rebranding, the 145-year-old hospital relaunched its Web site and launched a social media strategy that includes Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
