Night Read (Ohio): Cardinal Health to pay $1M penalty for losing track of drugs

Cardinal Health logoCardinal Health has agreed to pay a $1 million penalty for failing to account for large amounts of prescription drugs in two separate incidents in Tulsa, Okla., from 2005 through mid 2008, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

A $1 million donation to University Hospitals from the Fergus family of Avon, Ohio, has created the Mary D. Fergus Endowed Chair in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and UH MacDonald Women’s Hospital, according to a hospital release. The Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital Foundation provided a $500,000 match to the gift.

The Cleveland Clinic’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry inpatient services will relocate Tuesday, Feb. 23, to a new unit at Fairview Hospital from the hospital’s main campus, according to a hospital release.

Case Western Reserve University recently collaborated with several regional hospitals, community colleges and other partners to apply for millions of dollars in grants that could set an example for how health information technology education and infrastructure is established in Northeast Ohio and around the country, according to a university blog.

Mercy Medical Center’s Emergency Chest Pain Center has presented the first STEMI (ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction) Cup award to a Plain Township EMS squad, according to a hospital statement.
