A Connecticut prosecutor does not plan to charge the owner of a chimpanzee that mauled and blinded Charla Nash in February, according to an Associated Press story published in the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The 200-pound chimpanzee went berserk and ripped off Nash’s hands, nose, lips and eyelids. She has been treated at the Cleveland Clinic.
Don’t let the bad economy fool you. There’s a looming nursing shortage in Central Ohio, according to the Columbus Dispatch. A recent report from the Health Policy Institute of Ohio projects that Ohio is one of three states, along with Texas and California, that will have the greatest need for nurses in a decade. Researchers expect Ohio to be short 32,000 nurses by 2020.
Kettering Medical Center paid NCR Corp. $2.5 million for Moraine Farm, according to a conveyance form filed Monday, Dec. 7, at the Montgomery County auditor’s office, the Dayton Daily News reported Monday. NCR had initially sought $8 million for the 8-acre property. Both NCR and Kettering Medical Center’s parent, Kettering Health Network, declined to disclose the sale amount when they jointly announced the deal on Friday.
