CINCINNATI, Ohio — Michael Fisher, a board member at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, will become its new president and chief executive officer.

Fisher will take over for longtime leader Jim Anderson who is leaving at year’s end. Fisher spent five years on the hospital’s board and between 2001 and 2006 lead the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber of Commerce. He’s a a principal in Fisher Investment Group and was president and CEO of Premier Manufacturing Support Services until it was sold more than a decade ago.

“He brings a unique combination of experience, skill and proven leadership: strategic thinking, entrepreneurial spirit, a collaborative style, demonstrated effectiveness in business management and team building, and a vision for what Cincinnati Children’s can be locally, regionally, nationally and internationally,” Tom Cody, chairman of the Board of Trustees who lead the CEO search committee, stated in a press release.

The transition to new leadership will begin Nov. 16 and Fisher will officially lead the hospital starting Jan. 1.

Cincinnati Children’s has recently been an anomaly compared to other health system. Amid job cuts statewide the institution has continued hiring. It employs more than 11,000 people — an increase of 40 percent since 2005. The hospital has added 750 workers annually, and this year was named one of the 10 best children’s hospitals in the country and the best in Ohio, according to U.S. News & World Report.
