Thanks to the more than 100 people who came to take part in the First Annual MedCity Cornhole Tournament. In a final we couldn’t have scripted, the Cleveland Clinic Innovations team of Chris Coburn and Peter O’Neill defeated the University Hospitals duo of Todd Harford and Russ Guk in a competitive and friendly final match. UH held the lead for most of the match. But the Clinic came back, scored some critical 3-point bags in the hole and won.

“Was there any other possible outcome!” Coburn good naturedly exclaimed, arms outstretched, after the final win.

For their triumph, Cleveland Clinic Innovations got their own cornhole set, a $100 gift certificate from Brennan’s catering, a tournament bracket that outlined their triumph and bragging rights as the best cornhole team in Ohio (at least until next year).

It was a good-natured night of camaraderie and cornhole. A tip of the hat to teams from the Ohio State Medical Association (which drove from Columbus for the event) and DesignRoom Creative, which rounded out the Final 4 with the Clinic and UH. Medical Mutual, Steris Corp., Case Western Reserve University Tech Transfer and Cleveland Medical Devices teams were part of the elite eight. See the final bracket results here (pdf).

A slide show of images is above, and we’ll post a video from our event co-sponsor, thunder::tech, as soon as it’s ready. We’d also like to thank our other vendors and sponsors: Studiothink, Brennan’s and C2 Event Consulting.
